Gö Feldweg Omloop 51km – March 31 2024

With memories of the road races Gent Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen, und the Tour of Flanders still ringing like cathedral bells in my ears, I rode a revised 50km east loop Gö Feldweg Omloop on a warm, sunny spring Easter day. Of course, in my head the races were on, not that my body would agree.

These Flanders (Belgium) races are steeped in cycling folklore and my ride featured a mix of cobbles, climbs, and gravel to help celebrate them.

The Gö area cannot match the fearsome climbs of the Flanders region such as the Kemmelberg cobbled ascent but this version of the Gö Feldweg Omloop´s has a total distance of 51.6 km of which approximately 11.9 km is ridden on public roads open to motor cars, and the rest (39km) features asphalt Feldweg, cobbles, 8 gravel sectors (Plug Streets in Gent Wevelgem), Betonweg and the climb over the Gleichen Hills with the following super descent (descent 4 in the 4 descents of Gö) into the Garte Valley near Waterloo.

I rode the route on my road bike fitted with 28/26 Panaracer gravel tyres.
